Theequations ofmotionassociated witha
military tankarederived usingLagrange equa
tions. Thetankistreated asthreedistinct
bodies, eachhavingsixdegrees offreedom
(threedimensional motion), representing the
hull,theturretandthemaingun.Therigid
bodiesaresubject toasetofkinematic con
straint relationships, whichprovide thephysi
calinterface ofthesystem. Eulerian coordi
natesareusedtodescribe therigidbodies.
Lagrangian coordinates areusedtodescribe the
bending ofthemaingun.Thegunisassumed to
